Health experts say many Caribbean women may be living with Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS), formerly called Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), and mistaking its symptoms for normal parts of life.
Obstetrician-Gynecologist Dr Roshni Bissoondatt says the condition often goes undiagnosed until women begin trying to conceive, despite its broader impact on their long-term health.
