With Father’s Day set to be celebrated later this month, first time authors Bevon and Rhonda Benjamin have created a valuable resource for newly-minted fathers . The two-part publication is titled “Called to Be Dad.” We have more in this I Love Tobago segment.
Rhonda Benjamin’s Master’s thesis on interpersonal and healthcare support for first-time fathers became the foundation for something much larger. It grew into a venture dedicated to offering meaningful guidance and support to men as they navigate fatherhood.
She then brainstormed with her husband, Bevon Benjamin, on ways they could provide that much-needed support in a package that would appeal to first-time fathers. Out of those discussions, the publication, ‘Called to Be Dad’ was born. Interestingly, during this period, the Benjamins welcomed their first child, making the mission even more personal.
The publication, which includes a guide and workbook, promotes a proactive approach to fatherhood and encourages them to embrace their role with confidence and purpose.
The Benjamins explained that the publication is intentionally designed to be simple, practical, and easy for new fathers to follow. It aims to provide helpful guidance without being overwhelming.
Fathers are being encouraged to view their commitment to bonding with their children as an investment in their family’s future and legacy.
‘Called to Be Dad’ was officially launched last month, and the Benjamins noted that the response has been positive, with many people reaching out to purchase copies.
The authors also encourage women to actively support the men as they adjust to fatherhood. They hope this shared effort will help fathers feel more confident and supported in their journey.
An app is also being developed to help readers easily track their progress while using the publications. The Benjamins also hope to take the resources beyond bookshelves and into communities through support programmes for fathers.
‘Called to Be Dad’ is now available online, at book stores and through nationwide delivery.
