I Love Tobago – Tufting By Tinzz Inspires A New Wave Of Textile Art In Tobago

Have you ever heard about tufting? This skill is becoming an increasingly popular form of textile art around the world and one Tobago creative, Tinille Meyers is helping to introduce the craft to the island through her business Tufting by Tinzz.

Tinille says her love for hands-on work, led her to discover tufting.

Self-taught, she continued honing her craft.

What started as a hobby quickly became a business through word-of-mouth.

It was at this point that she began exploring punch needle tufting.

She explained that people can be creative with the items they make. She has since introduced the craft through workshops across Tobago, with overwhelming response.

Her sessions, including one at Poui Tree Café at the Scarborough Esplanade, gave participants a creative outlet. Another session at the same venue is already in the works. Meanwhile, Tinille is also offering take-home kits to encourage more people to try tufting.

She hopes the craft can inspire young people to explore creativity beyond screens.

Looking ahead, TuftingbyTinzz plans to open a storefront to expand the business and host workshops.
