Tobago’s celebrated Soca artiste Oscar B has died, less than 24 hours before his scheduled benefit event, the “Tobago Family & Friends Healing Concert.”
The concert, which was to be held at the Shaw Park Cultural Complex, was organised to raise funds for the singer’s medical care after he suffered a stroke in May.
News of his passing has triggered an outpouring of tributes from fans, fellow artistes, and members of the wider community.
Oscar B, whose given name was Oscar Benjamin, was 57 and hailed from Signal Hill. He was best known for Soca hits including “Soca Bogle” and “Soca Tatie” and was beloved in Tobago, Trinidad, and across the wider Caribbean.
