Jagdeo Singh Elected Speaker; Wade Mark Named Senate President

Attorney-at-Law Jagdeo Singh has been elected Speaker of the House, while Wade Mark is the new President of the Senate.

Princes Town Member of Parliament Dr. Aiyna Ali is the Deputy Speaker of the House, and Ms. Kenya Charles is the Vice-President of the Senate.

Mr. Singh, who was called to the Bar in 1989, has served on the Law Reform Commission and appeared as Counsel in the CLICO Commission of Enquiry and the Commissions of Enquiry into the 1990 Coup Attempt and the Construction of the Las Alturas Towers.

Mr. Mark is no stranger to politics and has a record as one of the longest-serving Senators in Trinidad and Tobago, having served in the 4th, 5th, 6th, 8th, 9th, 11th and 12th Parliaments.

Dr. Ali is a healthcare professional and a qualified dentist, as well as a community activist.

Ms. Charles, a former national footballer, last represented the TT women’s football team in 2015.
