Jangoo’s Double Century Puts Windies In Command

There is good news as well for the West Indies men courtesy Amir Jangoo. A double century in just his second test match as the Windies posted 626 for 9 declared on Day 3 against Sri Lanka in Antigua and hold a lead of 303runs. Roston Chase made 194.

The West indies have taken control of the 1st test match at the Sir Viv Richards Stadium in Antigua. The hosts declared on 626 for 9 before Sri Lanka closed Day 3 on 15 for 1 still trailing the hosts by 303 runs. Chase fell agonizingly on 194 before the Windies declared.

Amir Jangoo and Roston Chase picked up where they left off from the 2nd day, taking the score from 271 for 5 to 569 for 6, adding 298 runs before Jangoo was dismissed for 233.

Jangoo made duck and 30 in his first test match against hosts Pakistan in January last year.

The Jangoo / Chase 6th wicket partnership of 401 is the second highest partnership for the West Indies following Garry Sobers and Conrad Hunte 2nd wicket pairing of 446 against Pakistan in Jamaica in February 1958. That was Sobers world record 365 not out.

Day 4 is on tomorrow.
