Who can stop the New York Knicks from winning the NBA Championship, their first since 1973. The Knicks edged the San Antonio Spurs last night in Game two of the NBA Finals for a 2-0 series lead as they head to New York for Game 3 on Monday night.
The San Antonio Spurs are one of the youngest teams to have ever made it to the NBA Finals led by a 22 year-old superstar in Victor Wembanyama.
Their opponents, the New York Knicks have a more experienced team and were riding a 12-game win streak heading into Game two on Friday night in San Antonio. Unlike Game 1, The Knicks kept pace with the Spurs throughout the contest holding the edge for most of it.
Trailing in the fourth quarter the Spurs brought it back to one point with Wemby having the final shot which rimmed out. He led all scorers with 29 points but it is the Knicks who left San Antonio with the 105 to 104 win to take Game 2 and a 2-0 series lead. The next two games will be at the famed Madison Square Garden in Midtown Manhattan on Monday and Wednesday nights.
