Residents of the Lakeview Housing Development in Point Fortin are expected to receive their deeds of title following the completion of the land vesting process.
The announcement was made in Parliament by Point Fortin MP Ernesto Kesar, who also raised concerns about outstanding infrastructure issues in the 20-year-old development.
The land vesting process for the Lakeview Housing Development in Point Fortin has been completed, clearing the way for residents to receive their deeds of title.
Point Fortin MP Ernesto Kesar told the House that the process had been on hold since June 2024, leaving residents unable to obtain mortgages because the Housing Development Corporation did not hold title to the land.
The development comprises 422 housing units, including 25 bungalows, 95 single-family homes, 52 duplex units and 232 townhouses, among other units.
However, the MP says residents continue to face infrastructure challenges, including road conditions and incomplete drainage works. The MP also acknowledged the Housing Minister’s intervention to address problems with the community’s sewer plant.
The Point Fortin MP says the delay has left residents in an uncertain position for years, preventing them from obtaining mortgages because the HDC did not have legal title to the land.
With the land vesting process now completed, residents are awaiting the next step: receiving their deeds and titles and securing legal ownership of their homes after years of uncertainty.
