Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado issued a statement on Saturday calling for a democratic transition in Venezuela.
She asserted that international legal actions against President Nicolás Maduro mark a turning point for the country.
She is urging Venezuelans to support what she characterised as the restoration of popular and national sovereignty, including the release of political prisoners and the return of Venezuelans who have emigrated in recent years.
Machado also reiterated her support for Edmundo González Urrutia, whom she described as the “legitimate President of Venezuela,” and called on members of the armed forces to recognise him as commander-in-chief.
The statement did not provide details on specific actions planned or timelines for a transition.
