Minister Faris Al-Rawi confirmed that Cabinet has approved the partial proclamation of the Local Government Reform package, specifically amendments to Section 11 and 12 of the Municipal Corporations Act which deal with the life and term of Local Government Representatives.
Under the reformed law, which take effect from Tuesday November 8th, 2022, the life of Councils will move from three years to four years. Minister Al-Rawi said with the proclamation of the law, the term of Councillors and the Aldermen will now run to December 3rd 2023, instead of expiring on December 3rd 2022.
