Dozens of Primary School students got the opportunity to do some reading with Member of Parliament for Port of Spain North/St. Ann’s West, Stuart Young, on Friday.
The activity was organised by the Book Buddies Programme and held at NALIS on Abercromby Street in Port of Spain. The programme is designed to encourage and inspire children between the ages of five to 15 to develop the reading habit.
MP Young read an excerpt of Magic Tree House by Mary Pope Osborne with the children.
After reading the excerpt and discussing the books with the children, Minister Young chatted with them about what they would be doing after the vacation camp.
The camp lasted two weeks and since its inception in 2014. it has successfully shared the power of reading with over 700 participants.
