Key Points From the Ministry of Health’s Virtual Media Conference – Wednesday 15th September 2021
– Minister of Health, Terrence Deyalsingh, addressed a statement made by International Artist, Nicki Minaj and stated that after an investigation conducted by his Ministry yesterday, there are no cases of impotence linked to COVID-19 vaccination in T&T. The Minister also added that this is not a known vaccine side effect.
– The Health Minister also addressed claims of persons going to sites for extra doses after completing their vaccination regime and stated that his Ministry received no such reports but encourages members of the population to report such activity if they are aware of it.
– Minister Deyalsingh provided an update on vaccination uptake and indicated that only 32.1% of the population is fully vaccinated and 39.2% have received one dose while 60.8 of the population remains unvaccinated. The Minister broke the figure down further and stated that as far as the 12-18 aged population are concerned, only 16.7% are fully vaccinated, 39.4% have received one dose and 60.6% remain unvaccinated, representing roughly 54,000 individuals.
