Tobago House of Assembly Minority Leader Kelvon Morris has lodged a police report against Secretary of Settlements and Rural Development Ian Pollard.
During a recent Press Conference, Mr. Morris expressed concern for his family’s safety as he accused Mr. Pollard of threatening him. This, Mr. Morris said, took place during the THA’s last plenary sitting on February 27th. He claimed this was the second such incident.
“In the first instance, he reminded me that he has Muslim friends and he will deal with me. That was the first threat sometime last year, and he has now doubled down on that threat by intimating to me that he will send me home.”
Mr. Morris also indicated that these incidents have been taking place while an ongoing investigation is underway before the Integrity Commission involving Mr. Pollard.
“There is an active investigation upon the conduct of the Secretary of Settlements as it pertains to the Rural Development Unit, of which I am the complainant, the primary witness, and therefore, when the Secretary would make a suggestion, an intimation that he will send me home, I therefore have absolutely no other choice but to take that kind of threat absolutely seriously.”
The Minority Leader is calling on security officials to take action to safeguard him and his family.
