More Pfizer Vaccines for the Public

Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley has made an additional 50,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccines available to the public.

This was confirmed by Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh who said the uptake of this vaccine in the adult population has been overwhelming.
On September 4th, the Ministry of Health expanded the use of the Pfizer vaccine beyond pregnant women and children aged 12 to 18 years.

Following this decision, there was a rush for the Pfizer jab in which 50,000 doses were allocated for 25,000 people. Mr Deyalsingh said since then, over 23,000 people took up the offer to be vaccinated with the Pfizer jab.

The Minister reminds that the Pfizer vaccines currently in stock will expire at the end of November and he’s hoping more children take advantage of the opportunity to get vaccinated.

Mr Deyalsingh says the first doses of the Pfizer vaccines would have to be used by mid-October for the latest since there is a three-week gap for the second dose.
