Museum Reopening Celebrates Willi Chen’s Artistic Legacy

The Central Bank Museum welcomed visitors today for a family-friendly event marking its reopening, while paying tribute to the late artist William “Willi” Chen and commemorating 220 years of history alongside the national community.

As told by Senior curator at the central bank museum Nimah Muwakil-Zakuri, Chen’s contribution to Trinidad and Tobago’s visual arts is reflected in the Central Bank’s own art collection.

Solar Marinorama continues to greet visitors in the museum’s lobby.

The tribute also featured a dedicated display of his work and a screening of a 2015 interview, offering visitors insight into his childhood, life and artistic journey.

The reopening provided an opportunity for families to reconnect with the museum, explore the nation’s heritage and celebrate the enduring legacy of one of Trinidad and Tobago’s distinguished visual artists.
