Parang Veteran George Carter Passes Away

Members of the Parang fraternity are mourning the loss of one of the industry’s veterans, George Carter, a member of Amantes de Parranda, who passed away on July 30th following prolonged illness.

The National Parang Association of Trinidad and Tobago extended condolences on behalf of the fraternity noting that Mr Carter was “a gentle giant of the art-form, who generously shared his knowledge, experience and deep understanding of the tradition with all who sought his guidance.”

NPATT President Alicia Jaggasar lauded his love for passing on his vast knowledge to the next generation through dedicating countless hours to teaching music theory, cuatro, and guitar to young people across the country.

Mr. Carter was a founding member of Los Alumnos, which later became Los Alumnos de Trinbago before adopting the name Amantes de Parranda in 2002.
