The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted full approval to the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for people 16 years and older.
Late last week, US media reported that the FDA was working to approve to vaccine, which would make it the first to go from emergency use authorisation to full FDA approval in the US.
Early on Monday morning, it was confirmed that the review process was successful.
The Pfizer vaccine was first authorised for emergency use in the US since mid-December for people ages 16 and over, but the authorisation was extended to those 12 and over in May.
