Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar SC has hinted that the 2026/27 budget presentation could take place in October.
Addressing recently confirmed Permanent Secretaries on Thursday, the Prime Minister stressed that these senior public officials would play a critical role in the upcoming budget exercise.
She confirmed that Ministries are already preparing budget proposals and documents, adding that the annual budget process would continue into October.
“As we approach a bigger exercise that has to be undertaken, as in the months of coming up in October, Standing Finance Committee, the budget debates, that whole process, your leadership will be vital. And I know already, PSs have been working to put the budget documents together, to put your proposals for your Ministry, and that exercise will take us all into October.”
