PM Rowley Worries Over Impact Of Delta Variant

Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley is worried that the Delta variant would meet a largely unvaccinated population in this country, as he continues to urge citizens to get inoculated.

Speaking during the Commissioning of the Malabar Government Primary School, Dr. Rowley noted that T&T has been able to stop the five confirmed cases of the Delta variant at the border, but said it could already be circulating.

He noted that Government would have worked hard to procure vaccines for the people to give them a fighting chance, and would not like to see that effort wasted.

Dr. Rowley urged people to take the vaccine before they end up in a situation where they are gasping for air.

He also reiterated his call for students to get inoculated, saying that the Delta variant is causing problems even for those children.

The Prime Minister said he knows at least 10% of the population may not be able to be vaccinated due to health reasons, but urged those who can to do so.

He added that Government has allowed people to make voluntarily decisions, except in circumstances where reducing the spread was critical, such as the wearing of masks.
