Police Officers Assigned To Mason Hall And Signal Hill Secondary Schools From Monday

Police officers will be assigned to Mason Hall Secondary School and Signal Hill Secondary School in Tobago from Monday, September 22nd 2025.

This initiative aligns with the Central Government’s establishment of a School-Oriented Policing Unit, which seeks to strengthen safety and security at selected at-risk schools nationwide.

THA Secretary of Education, Research and Technology, Zorisha Hackett, senior officials of the Division, and principals of the two schools met with Deputy Commissioner of Police Junior Benjamin, Assistant Commissioner of Police for Tobago, Oswain Subero, and members of the TTPS to agree on the terms and conditions for operations on the school compounds.

Sensitisation sessions will be conducted with teachers, parents, and students before the implementation.

The THA Division of Education said discussions also considered the extension of police support to nine additional primary and secondary schools. Under this arrangement, the identified schools would benefit from closer monitoring and more frequent visits by police officers, with the intention of fostering a safe and supportive learning environment.
