Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar says mothers remain the emotional foundation of families and society, as she praised their strength, sacrifice, and role in shaping future generations in her Mother’s Day 2026 message.

Today, I extend heartfelt greetings and deepest appreciation to every mother across our nation as we celebrate Mother’s Day. We honour the women whose love, sacrifice, strength, and devotion continue to shape our families and the future of Trinidad and Tobago.
Mothers are the emotional foundation of our homes and among the greatest builders of our society. They are often the first teachers of our children, instilling values, discipline, compassion, resilience, and faith from the earliest stages of life.
In difficult times, it is often the strength of mothers that steadies families and gives children the confidence and security to face the world.
As a mother, I understand deeply the hopes and concerns we carry each day. Every mother wants her child to feel safe, receive a good education, and grow up with dignity, stability, and hope for the future.
That is why my Government, just one year into office, remains focused on improving conditions for families and children throughout Trinidad and Tobago.
We are expanding educational opportunities through initiatives such as the national laptop programme, while also taking active steps to confront school violence and bullying, because every parent deserves peace of mind when sending their child to school each morning.
At the same time, we are working diligently to create safer communities, expand economic opportunities, and restore greater confidence and stability throughout the nation.
On this Mother’s Day, I also remember, with enduring love and gratitude, my own beloved late mother, Rita Persad, whose strength, guidance, sacrifice, and values helped shape my life and continue to inspire me every day.
To every mother across our nation, thank you for the love, sacrifice, strength, and care you bring to your families and communities each day.
I wish you a wonderful and blessed Mother’s Day, and may God continue to bless all mothers with strength, good health, peace, and happiness, always.
