One person was taken into police custody after prison officers intercepted an attempt to smuggle contraband into the Golden Grove Prison during a routine visitor screening on Monday afternoon.
The Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service said officers discovered 54 cigarettes, four packs of wrapping paper and approximately 53 grammes of suspected marijuana concealed inside seven apples.
The items were seized, and investigations into the incident are continuing.
