Proman Trinidad Launches Book Chronicling IPSL’s History And Achievements

Proman Trinidad has launched a book chronicling the history and achievements of its founding company, Industrial Plant Services Limited (IPSL), while also announcing two technical scholarships in honour of the company’s founder.

Author of the publication, Dr. Indera Sagewan, has described the newly launched book on Industrial Plant Services Limited (IPSL) as a chronicle of the company’s growth.

Speaking on Thursday at the book launch hosted by Proman Trinidad, she said the publication captures the story of a uniquely local company that grew into a globally respected business.

“The book examines IPSL’s evolution, its business model, leadership, operational performance, its people, institutional culture and international reach. Together these themes tell the story of how, and this is, I underscore this, of how a uniquely indigenous enterprise emerged and developed international standing.”

She noted that the 12-chapter publication also serves as a valuable learning tool for students and aspiring entrepreneurs.

“The book traces the evolution of Trinidad and Tobago’s petrochemical industry showing how global feedstock markets, the discovery of natural gas, government policy, foreign direct investment, and importantly, local private sector investment helped create the conditions for a world class industry.”

The founder of IPSL, Clinton B. Ramberansingh, reflected on the company’s beginnings.

“The very idea that eventually became IPSL was born out of conversations among plant operators who believed that we could be more than simply operate plants owned by multinational companies. We believed that Trinidadians had the knowledge and the capability to own, manage and build businesses of our own.”

Meanwhile, Executive Director of Proman Trinidad, Anand Ragbir, announced the establishment of the Clinton B. Ramberansingh Technical Excellence Scholarship in partnership with the NESC Technical Institute.

“Starting in 2027, two scholarships will be awarded each year to T&T nationals pursuing industry relevant technical training through the NESC. Alongside the financial support that these scholarships will provide, recipients will also benefit from industry exposure and mentorship from Proman technical professionals, connecting their education with the practical hands-on experience that is so important to our industry.”

IPSL began operations in 1999 and officially became Proman on October 1st, 2019.
