The Republic Bank National Primary Schools Mini Polo League and the Republic Bank National Secondary Schools Water Polo League culminated with a prize-giving ceremony last Saturday, June 27, celebrating the outstanding achievements of young athletes from across Trinidad, hosted at the Cipriani College of Labour and Cooperative Studies.
Student-athletes were recognised for their outstanding performances, alongside the coaches, teachers, parents, officials and volunteers whose commitment contributed to the success of both leagues.
Beyond the competition, the leagues provided participants with opportunities to develop qualities that extend well beyond the pool. Through training, teamwork and competition, student athletes strengthened their leadership, discipline, resilience, and communication skills while learning the value of perseverance, mutual respect and collective achievement.
Addressing attendees at the closing ceremony, Baldath Ramkissoon, General Manager, Group Human Resources at Republic Bank, congratulated the athletes on a successful season and encouraged them to carry the lessons learnt through sport into every aspect of their lives.
“At Republic Bank, we believe that when we invest in young people, we invest in the future of our communities. That’s why, through our Power to Make a Difference programme, we continue to partner with the Royhil Seals Water Polo Club to support opportunities like these that help young people grow, learn, and discover what they are capable of achieving.”
The ceremony concluded with the presentation of awards to the season’s topperforming teams and athletes. St. Joseph’s Convent, Port of Spain claimed the championship title in the Secondary Schools Senior Female Division, while Fatima College emerged as champions in the Senior Male Division. In the Primary Schools Mini Polo League, St. Monica’s Preparatory School secured the win for the Senior Female Division and Patna Government Primary School emerged victorious in the Senior Male Division.
