Shotgun And Ammunition Seized During Penal Police Operation

A firearm and ammunition have been seized during a police operation in Penal.

Officers of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service made the discovery during an intelligence-led exercise along a farming road near the Mud Volcano off Bunsee Trace, Penal Rock Road, on Saturday.

Police say two men fled into a nearby forest after spotting officers and escaped despite a search of the area.

A search of a makeshift camp led to the discovery of a shotgun hidden in the roof, along with two 12-gauge shotgun cartridges concealed inside a cranberry juice container.

The weapon and ammunition were processed by Crime Scene Investigation officers and submitted for forensic analysis. Investigations are continuing.
