The workplace is rapidly evolving, from technological advancements to flexible employment arrangements.
To meet the new demands that accompany those changes, SITAL College has partnered with corporate T&T to equip future hires through its Connecting the Dots Finishing School Programme.
Executive Director of SITAL College, Ann-Marina White, pointed to a growing mismatch between graduate readiness and employer expectations.
“We have young people with ambition, talent and academic exposure, but many still face difficulty converting that potential into meaningful employment. We also have employers who say that vacancies exist, but too many applicants are not fully prepared for the expectations of the workplace.”
According to SITAL’s Director of Technology and Business Development, John Outridge, the Connecting the Dots Finishing School Programme will fill those gaps, ensuring that participants are not only qualified but ready for employment.
“Corporate readiness, in terms of helping persons again understand workplace policies, the importance of ethics and integrity, and early career leadership, because we are seeing in this age of AI, particularly, you find not a lot of young people are being absorbed into the system, and you realise that it’s because people are expecting AI to take over and do everything, but at the end of the day, we have to help young people understand what is their future career path, where do they see themselves in five years.”
Participants will also learn financial literacy, budgeting skills, and stewardship, championed by the President of CLICO, Ashraf Ali.
“Managing first income responsibly, understanding credit and responsible borrowing. Communicating confidently and professionally, adapting to technology-driven workplaces, making sound independent decisions – these are not optional skills; these are essential life skills.”
CLICO will sponsor the first cohort of the eight-week programme. Through its newly launched Young Professional Education Plan, the financial institution will also provide individuals with access to funding to further their education.
