The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service has confirmed that six people have been detained in connection with the ongoing investigation into the murder of a Municipal Police Officer and the theft of firearms and ammunition at the King’s Wharf compound in San Fernando.
Those detained include two Municipal Police Officers, two women, and two men.
Officers from the San Fernando Criminal Investigation Department, Special Branch, and the Special Investigations Unit, using intelligence-led operations and technology, worked throughout the night carrying out multiple coordinated exercises. As a result, police say a major breakthrough has been made.
A large quantity of the stolen items has since been recovered, including more than 20 pistols and over 600 rounds of 9 millimetre ammunition.
Commissioner of Police Allister Guevarro led officers on the ground in the early hours as investigations intensified.
Police say inquiries are ongoing and remain at a sensitive stage, and efforts continue to bring all those responsible to justice.
