SOE Decision Expected After National Security Council Meeting On Thursday

With the State of Emergency nearing its end, Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar says the Government will determine its next move following Thursday’s meeting of the National Security Council.

The Prime Minister says the Government remains concerned about crime but points to declining crime statistics across the country during the period of the State of Emergency.

“I’ll let you know on Thursday what the plan is. We continue to be concerned. It is very clear that the crime stats are down. Anybody with eyes to see will see. The numbers are down, down, down in every regard, in every division. So I’ll let you know on Thursday after the National Security Council meeting. I think it has been very successful. Maybe it’s not the best thing to do, but it was very successful. And when you watch the numbers, the numbers are very clear. Numbers don’t lie.”
