Parlatuvier fishermen have received some measure of relief.
The Division of Infrastructure, Quarries and the Environment installed a temporary steel stairway to bridge the collapsed section of their jetty. The Division has indicated that this forms part of Phase 1 of the Rehabilitation Project.
Public Relations Officer of the Parlatuvier Fisherfolk, Marvin Lewis, told TTT News on Monday that the damaged structure made operations difficult for the fishermen.
Mr. Lewis said they are thankful that some support has been provided.
For numerous years, Parlatuvier fisher folk have been calling for reconstruction of the dilapidated structure. In February, additional sections of the jetty failed and collapsed into the sea, making its use dangerous to users. The steel stairway was completed at a cost of $180,000.
