Minister of Culture and Community Development Michelle Benjamin has announced the involvement of her Ministry in assisting with funeral arrangements for the late Slinger Francisco, “The Mighty Sparrow”.
In a statement made in the Lower House on Wednesday, she said the late calypsonian will receive a State-assisted funeral and a Ministry team is working with the Francisco family to ensure the necessary arrangements are successfully underway.
She also announced the circulation of four (4) condolence books, available for the public to sign from tomorrow, Thursday, October 1st, 2026.
Members of the public can sign the condolence books at the following locations from Thursday, October 1st to Wednesday, October 14th, 2026, between 10am and 4pm daily:
– The Ministry of Culture and Community Development, Level 8, Tower C, International Waterfront Complex, 1A Wrightson Road, Port of Spain.
– The National Academy for the Performing Arts, NAPA, Hotel Lobby, Frederick Street, Port of Spain.
– The Southern Academy for the Performing Arts, SAPA, Todd Street, San Fernando.
– Shaw Park Complex, Shaw Park, Scarborough, Tobago.
Condolence books will also be available at all 14 Municipal Corporations across Trinidad from Monday, October 5th to Wednesday, October 14th, 2026.
