Tobago Records Third Murder For 2025

A lunchtime break for employees of Gencon Ltd in Tobago turned deadly on Tuesday when 32-year-old Vernardo George of Studley Park was shot and killed by gunmen.

According to police, around 12.50pm, four individuals employed with a company contracted to cut trees on behalf of the Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission went to Black Rock Heritage Park to have lunch when two armed men wearing masks and blue jumpers opened fire on Mr. George, who was sitting at the back of a vehicle.

The gunmen then fled the scene on foot.

Mr. George was pronounced dead on the scene, becoming Tobago’s third murder victim for 2025.
