A triple murder in Laventille today has added to the already record-breaking murder toll for the year.
Speaking to journalists at the scene of the fatal shooting at Sapodilla Trace, Acting Commissioner of Police Mc Donald Jacob, offering condolences to the relatives and community for the loss of their loved ones, noted that the criminal elements are pushing further and further into the communities.
He said among the measures that will be considered, increased foot patrols along with members of the Defence Force.
The Acting Police Commissioner confirmed that there have been some 555 murders for 2022.
Commissioner Jacob said the challenge continues to be how best we can curb the killing before year’s end.
According to reports, on Tuesday morning around 9 o’clock two gunmen approached a group of men who were standing on the roadway and opened fire. Twenty three year old Cody Pierre and 23 year old Jevon George died at the scene while another man identified as Alex Morton died at hospital.
