Chargé d’Affaires from the U.S. Embassy in T&T, Michael Fitzpatrick, says the half a billion dollar investment on its new Embassy Campus signals confidence that the United States has in Trinidad and Tobago.
Speaking at AMCHAM’s AGM, he described the project as a major signal of Washington’s long-term commitment to Trinidad and Tobago as a strategic regional partner, underscoring both the scale and significance of the investment.
“We believe in Trinidad and Tobago. The U.S. government is currently investing a half a billion dollars on a large new Embassy Campus. Many of you were with me and our team at the last official function at the Country Club in January 2025. Our new embassy is a symbol of our commitment, not just to diplomacy, but to partnership, prosperity, and to the decades ahead.”
And AMCHAM’s President, Anna Henderson called for tangible steps to improve business mobility between Trinidad and Tobago and the United States.
She urged Government to pursue programmes that would ease travel for businesspeople and investors, saying such reforms are critical to enhancing competitiveness.
“We encourage the Government to begin the process of securing the global entry option for travel to and from the U.S. and from then, working towards making Piarco International Airport a pre-clearance port.”
