The South Campus of the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, will begin classes in August 2025.
A media release from the UWI St. Augustine Campus says that despite scarce financial resources, extensive repairs have been carried out and security has been upgraded at the South Campus since it was returned to the UWI after the COVID-19 pandemic.
The South Campus in Penal/Debe will be the home of the newly launched Global School of Medicine (GSM), primarily for international students pursuing the Doctor of Medicine programme.
Applications are currently open for this new, competitive programme. The South Campus will also host other programmes from faculties such as the Faculty of Science and Technology, the Faculty of Food and Agriculture, and the Faculty of Humanities and Education.
Pro Vice-Chancellor and Campus Principal, Professor Rose-Marie Belle Antoine, indicated that maximising the capacity of the South Campus aligns with the goals of the UWI to strengthen the education, skills base, and research imperatives of Trinidad and Tobago.
