WASA: No Planned Shutdown At DESALCOTT

The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) is refuting reports of a planned shutdown at the Desalination Company of Trinidad and Tobago (DESALCOTT) over the coming weekend.

Via a media release, WASA says in fact from Friday November 10th to Sunday November 12th, DESALCOTT will be increasing its production from 40 million gallons per day to 42 million gallons per day.

This follows a directive from Minister of Public Utilities, Marvin Gonzales, for the Authority to request an increase in production from DESALCOTT to meet the anticipated additional demand during the Divali weekend.

WASA also points out on Wednesday the new Freeport Wells Number 19 and Number 20, along with California Well Number 3, were brought into production boosting the supply at the Freeport Water Treatment Plant by an additional one million gallons per day.
