More rain is on the horizon for Trinidad and Tobago heading into the weekend.
A tropical wave which continues to move across the region prompted a Yellow-Level Weather Alert from the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service on Wednesday; however, the TTMS discontinued the Alert just after 10am today.
Speaking on TTT’s NOW Morning Show, Meteorologist Gary Benjamin warned that while the current Tropical Wave had only produced scattered showers on Thursday, conditions remain favourable for isolated thunderstorms and increased rainfall heading into the weekend.
“But we still have the wave progressing and passing today into tomorrow. We would have a bit of a reduction in the activity and after the trailing convergence of the wave on Saturday, we could have some perturbation and some increased convergence.”
He explained that any Yellow Level Alert is not necessarily a sign of severe weather but a call for heightened awareness.
“A Yellow Alert is to have a heightened observance of what is taking place with the weather. It is not necessarily to talk about bad weather, as people in local parlance would put it, but it’s to have a heightened observance of what is happening and to be on the lookout for developments in the weather.”
