WI U19 Women Take 1st T20

The West indies Under 19 women took the first of five Twenty 20 internationals against the United States under 19 women today in St Augustine. The hosts won the toss and sent the Americans in to bat first at the Sir Frank Worrell Cricket Ground at UWI Spec. But their 20 overs only produced 66 runs for 9 wickets due to the work of Windies bowlers Naijanni Cumberbatch who took four wickets and captain Samara Ramnath with 3.

In response, Cumberbatch then led all scorers with 26 including hitting the only 6 of the contest in her knock. She was adjudged Player of the Match. The Caribbean team then got to 67 for 5 in the 16th over to complete the 5-wicket win before the showers came. The second T20 takes place tomorrow again in St Augustine.
