Windies Clinch T20I Series Vs Sri Lanka

Sherfane Rutherford brought up his fifty in the final over Sunday as the West Indies pulled off a thrilling five-wicket win over Sri Lanka, clinching the T20 series with just two balls to spare.

West Indies won the toss and chose to bowl first in the decider and the gamble paid off. Shamar Joseph ripped through the Sri Lankan batting, taking 5/33 runs to earn player of the match and series honours with 11 wickets in total.

Matthew Forde set the tone early with a stunning one-handed catch off his own bowling to remove Kusal Mendis. Dunith Wellalage led a lower-order fightback with 43, lifting Sri Lanka to 169.

In reply, the West Indies stumbled losing three wickets for just one run after racing to 52. But Rovman Powell and Rutherford steadied the chase with an eighty-one run stand.

Rutherford finished unbeaten on 54, with Jason Holder smashing three sixes in the nineteenth over to seal it. The West Indies reaching 170/5.

The two sides now turn to a two-test series, starting June 25th in Antigua.
