World Cup Upsets Continue

With just about a week of cricket completed in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, it can be safely said that the new comers to the tournament, are out to make a statement.

Thursday was USA defeating Pakistan and today, Canada got the better of Ireland. Canada batted first scoring 137 for 7 from their 20 overs. Nicholas Kirton top scored with 49 with support from Sheryas Movva with 37. Craig Young and Barry McCarthy each took two wickets for Ireland.

Chasing 138 for this win, the Irish got within touching distance, only managing 125 for 7. Number 10 batter Mark Adair top scored with 34 and George Dockrell tallying 30. Jeremy Gordon was very impressive with the ball, taking two wickets for just 16 runs from his four overs. Canada pulling off the upset, defeating Ireland by 12 runs. Afghanistan take on New Zealand in game two of the day at Providence stadium in Guyana, bowling off at 7:30pm Eastern Caribbean Time.
