Police are searching for two suspects who shot and wounded a 30 year old policewoman outside her home in Caroni early on Tuesday.
WPC Quianna Mahabir is said to be in stable condition at hospital.
Mahabir, of Hydraulic Trace, is a member of the police band. According to reports, she was about to drive into her property upon returning from the Piarco International Airport. A car pulled up nearby, and two men got out. One of the assailants tried to open her car door, but it was locked. The gunman shot her through the glass before fleeing.
According to comedienne Nikki Crosby, Mahabir performed with the TTPS women’s contingent band on Saturday night at the Sunshine Awards. Crosby indicated the band received an award from the city of Newark for making history.
