Eight persons were arrested, thirteen warrants executed, and quantities of narcotics seized during separate police operations conducted in the Western and South Western Divisions yesterday.
On Saturday 30th May, 2026, the arrests included six persons held during a warrant exercise in the South Western Division, a St. James man arrested in connection with the seizure of suspected MDMA during an anti-crime exercise in the Western Division, and an Arima man who was subsequently charged following a malicious damage incident in Malabar.
Between 6:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., officers of the Western Division Task Force conducted intelligence-led operations in the St. James district. During the exercise, officers searched a blue BMW motor vehicle and discovered a quantity of suspected MDMA, commonly known as “Molly”. The vehicle’s occupant, a 31-year-old man of St. James, was arrested in connection with the find.
Further enquiries led officers to a residence in the district where an additional quantity of the narcotic was discovered and seized. The combined quantity weighed approximately 30.97 grams. The suspect was subsequently conveyed to the St. James Police Station as investigations continue.
Meanwhile, officers of the South Western Division, South Western Division Task Force and High Performance Response and Patrol Unit conducted a warrant exercise throughout the South Western Division between 3:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.
The operation resulted in the arrest of six persons for various Affiliation and Traffic-related warrants, while thirteen warrants were successfully executed. The exercise was completed without incident.
In a separate matter, officers responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence along Poui Lane, Malabar, Arima, at approximately 5:30 a.m.
Investigations revealed that a man allegedly returned home in an intoxicated state and began behaving aggressively towards his 56-year-old mother. During the incident, he allegedly damaged a 65-inch flat-screen television valued at approximately TT$4,099 and shattered the front and rear windshields and rear quarter glass of a motor vehicle, causing an estimated TT$3,195 in damage.
Officers subsequently located and arrested the suspect nearby after he allegedly behaved in a disorderly manner and used obscene language.
Following enquiries, the man was charged with Malicious Damage, Disorderly Conduct and Using Obscene Language. He is expected to appear before the court at a later date.
