Caribbean Airlines has unveiled its enhanced Caribbean Miles program as part of a celebration themed Welcome Home to Love and Loyalty.
Speaking at the customer appreciation event, Minister of Finance Colm Imbert highlighted the airline’s growth and its vital role in regional connectivity.
He said in 2024, the airline transported over two million passengers, including 600,000 on the domestic air bridge.
Minister Imbert said government subsidies continue to keep fares affordable, with each adult ticket priced at $400 instead of the unsubsidized $870.
“In 2023, we witnessed a remarkable turnaround in the performance of Caribbean Airlines, moving from an operating loss of U.S. $36.7 million in 2022 to an operating profit of U.S. $24.7 million, excluding debt service, in 2023. In 2024, the operating profit is still positive at U.S. $12.1 million.”
The minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the airline, which was recently recognized for excellence in customer service and safety.
“For 2024, the airline has recorded revenue of U.S. $444 million, an increase of 5%. And this performance in 2024 was achieved in the face of a decline in the amount earned per passenger of about $15 because of competition on international routes and also the increased costs that are associated with the expansion of the airline.”
