Driven by a commitment to national development and sustainability, Director of Women’s Health, Dr. Adesh Sirjusingh, received the Chaconia Medal Gold at the 2025 National Awards.
He said that, after thirty-five years of public service, the award serves as a vindication for the work he has done.
Dr. Sirjusingh expressed gratitude to his colleagues for their contributions, particularly those at the Ministry of Health, the Directorate of Women’s Health, and the Regional Health Authorities.
He noted that, over the years, they successfully improved outcomes for mothers and newborns, reaffirming that every baby and every mother counts.
“What we did especially well was to get people to work together across Trinidad and Tobago. We didn’t leave anyone behind, all of the teams working and putting patients first. So, what we have done for Trinidad and Tobago is to attain what you call the Sustainable Development Goals for 2030 for both maternal and newborn health.”
