Crown Point Residents Vacate Their Homes For Airport Expansion

Today, was the final day for Crompstain Trace residents to vacate their properties to make way for the continuation of the ANR Robinson International Airport expansion works.

The occupiers of lands of Zone D, who received eviction notices with a deadline of September 15th, requested a six-month extension and applied for an injunction but this was dismissed by the High Court earlier this month.

TTT News visited the area just before noon on Thursday, where residents were seen salvaging various items on and around their structures in preparation for demolition.

The Tobago House of Assembly is maintaining that residents were not given sufficient time and said support was offered to the relocated residents.

Via a Facebook post, Chief Secretary Farley Augustine shared difficulties experienced by a couple residents to move by the deadline given.

The THA also provided storage facilities for the residents and promised to offer support in the rebuilding of their homes.
