The Trinbago Knight Riders got a much needed win in the Republic Bank Premier League with a comfortable victory over the Barbados Trident at the Queen’s Park Oval on Friday night with one of their veterans coming to the party.
It turned out to be the Sunil Narine show at the Oval in Port of Spain when the Trinbago Knight Rider hosted the Barbados Tridents on Friday in the Republic Bank CPL
Narine began with the ball, taking the first wicket on the night, that of Shian Brathwaite for 13 in the 5th over. that set the tone of the innings as the six bowlers used by TKR squeezed the Trident batters, their top scores came from opener Zachary Carter with 28 and 27 from Captain Chris Green as the pitch provided plenty of turn for the home team’s spinners who restricted the Tridents to 127 for 9 after 20 overs.
Narine taking 2 wickets for a mere 14 runs from his 4 overs Kieron Pollard was equally impressive with the ball taking 2 for 19 in 3 overs.
Narine then went on to show his prowess with the bat when he opened the chase with Colin Munro…In a big hitting master class they put on 96 for the first wicket before Munro fell for 37. Narine was next to go with the score on 102 and victory in sight. He made 55 in 33 balls with 6 sixes and 1 four.
The Knight Riders will get to the victory target in the 15th over as they close it out on 128 for 3.
The 7-wicket win taking the defending Champions to 5th on the points table.
