Local Players Named For 2026 Women’s CPL

The local squads for the 2026 Women’s Caribbean Premier League are now confirmed, following the completion of the Player Draft. And there’s a major change this year, the tournament is expanding to four teams, with the Jamaica Empress joining the competition for the very first time.

The Women’s Caribbean Premier League draft was adjusted this year to make room for the new franchise.

Each team was allocated one Heritage player from its home territory, Hayley Matthews to the Barbados Tridents, Chinelle Henry to the Jamaica Empress, Shemaine Campbelle to the Guyana Amazon Warriors, and Karishma Ramharack to the Trinbago Knight Riders.

The three existing franchises then protected two more players each from their 2025 squads, while the Empress selected two from the remaining pool.

Among those retained or chosen, Stafanie Taylor and Aaliyah Alleyne for Jamaica, Deandra Dottin for Trinbago, and Qiana Joseph for Barbados.

Each franchise will also sign five overseas players, building fifteen-member squads and this year, all five imports are eligible for the playing eleven. Those signings will be confirmed in the coming weeks.

The 2026 season carries a refreshed identity, built around empowerment, the will to win, and close community, captured in the league’s new platform: “She’s In”.
