Trade and Industry Minister Paula Gopee-Scoon says the scrap iron industry needs to be regulated in more ways than one.
The Minister noted the regulation that currently governs the industry was created in 1904 in some instances.
Minister Gopee Scoon indicates the companies do not even remain in the areas they are designated to or follow other simple guidelines.
The Trade Minister made her comments as she toured the Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers’ Association’s TIC Trade show in Macoya’s Centre of Excellence on Friday.
