MOH Clarifies: Two Out Of Six Persons Who Tested Positive With Delta Variant Of Concern Were Fully Vaccinated

The Ministry of Health has clarified information in the public domain concerning the vaccination status of confirmed COVID-19 Delta cases.

The Ministry says of the six confirmed COVID-19 Delta cases, four were unvaccinated and two were considered fully vaccinated. All persons provided Negative PCR tests which were taken 72-hours prior to arrival.

The Health Ministry says the four unvaccinated cases were placed in State supervised quarantine immediately upon arrival to Trinidad. The two fully vaccinated individuals were placed in isolation as soon as the Positive COVID-19 test result was received. This was prior to confirmation of the COVID-19 Delta Variant of Concern.

The Ministry says while sequencing for Variants of Concern can take two to three weeks, the required protocols are immediately put in place for all positive COVID-19 cases with the relevant travel history, including the two fully vaccinated Delta variant cases.
