Member of Parliament for Mayaro and Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister, Nicholas Morris, says years of neglect in Mayaro and Rio Claro are coming to an end.
Addressing residents at the Mayaro Constituency Divali celebration on Sunday, MP Morris said his focus remains on securing greater development for communities throughout the constituency while ensuring that the region receives the attention it deserves.
“For years, the Mayaro constituency has supplied oil and gas for Trinidad and Tobago to get its wealth and for years, you have been neglected. But this is about to change.”
He also reiterated the Government’s commitment to tackling long-standing issues and improving the quality of life for residents.
“For years you have suffered, for years you have faced darkness, neglect and tribulations. And while things are not perfect, we give you a commitment that we are led by a Prime Minister who has a vision to rebuild and restore this country.”
Meanwhile, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries commended MP Morris’ leadership, saying the constituency is now benefiting from increased Government attention and investment after years of inadequate development.
“When he became your MP, he continued to represent each and every one of you, bringing the most Ministers to his constituency, whether it is infrastructure, whether it is water, whether it is agriculture, whether it is national security.”
MP Morris also reaffirmed his commitment to a number of projects across the constituency, assuring residents that Government’s focus on infrastructure, agriculture, public services and community development will continue in the years ahead.
