MP Saddam Hosein: Better Days Ahead For T&T

The spirit of Divali brought residents of Barataria/San Juan and visitors from across the country together on Sunday for a festive celebration hosted by MP and Minister of Land and Legal Affairs Saddam Hosein.

Reflecting on the significance of the Festival of Lights, he said Divali’s message of good triumphing over evil was particularly relevant to the country’s current circumstances.

“Divali is a time where we often hear about good over evil, knowledge over ignorance, and our Prime Minister, the honourable Kamla Persad-Bissessar, has been that light that overcame the darkness that this country was facing for quite some time.”

The MP for Barataria/San Juan promised that the country would see improvements in the coming months.

“We have been facing some very dark times, but as the Prime Minister said, better days are ahead. The light will once again shine down on Trinidad and Tobago, and step by step, bit by bit, we are going to fix this country. We ask you all to continue to lend your support to the government and our honourable Prime Minister.”

He also pledged his continued support to his constituents.

“I often say that Barataria/San Juan is one of the jewels in the crown of the government of Trinidad and Tobago. And you are special to all of us. As your Member of Parliament, I will continue to fight for you in and outside of the Parliament and to ensure that government resources are, in fact, distributed for every single one of you.”

The community was treated to live performances from several local artistes and musical groups, along with a cultural show featuring bhajans, chutney and kirtans.
